Today we learnt how to use fraps which is the program that we are going to be using to capture all of our 2nd life footage for the machinima.
We had to take a capture of our character talking to the camera which we did by using the lip synching that is in 2nd life when using a microphone to record speech.

Week 10
Today’s class was used just to finish up furnishing our apartments so that we can start filming next week.
Not much else happened today besides after finishing our apartments we a virtual "party" in one of the apartments.

First week back from holidays,
We got to pick out our apartments to day, after we picked out an apartment that we wanted we then went into Photoshop and made our own custom banners for our apartments so that everyone knew whose apartment was whose. After we finished putting our banners up we had the rest of the lesson to start furnishing our apartments.

Today we first started off by having a look at comic life, we were to uses this program to kind of a "story board" setup by taking screen shots of how we were going to film our machinimas. After we told dale that we had already drawn up story boards in our visual design class for he machinima we kind of left comic life since our story board were pretty much the same thing that we were going to do with second life.
After that we pretty much had free time to go a look around for things we still needed for our machinima while Dale started construction of the apartments that we are going to be using for our machinima.
Week 7
Today we did more 2nd life, pretty much still just getting use to the program.
We started off by just doing our own thing for the first half of the class so that we could go around looking for things that we would use from our machinima.
2nd half of the class we were shown how to make our own objects in the world, we started of with making a sphere and applying a texture to it, which was a texture of the world. After we had made our "world" we then made another sphere which was a bit bigger than the first one that we made, we then applied a transparent clouds texture to this sphere to make clouds on the world. After we had made the clouds we were shown how to use scripts which we then used to apply to the clouds we made so that they would spin around the "World".

Today we were shown the site www.ilovebees.com, for those the don't know it was a promotional website set up for Halo 2 where the site first looked like a hobby site set up by someone talking about how much they liked bees. As the weeks went on the site started to change as if it had been hacked and as the weeks went on the site changed more and more till it looked like it had been completely hacked by some unknown group of people trying to post some secret information. In the end it was reviled that it was for Halo 2 and we talk about how this type of interactive story telling was "thinking outside of the box" in the way of getting a story across because the website had hundreds of thousands of people looking at it to see what would happen next.
After that we talking about a you tube girl named lonelygirl14, it was a story created by posting video diaries that people though was real until later on when people started to investigate about the girl that was posting on the videos.
Half way through the class we got to meet our 2nd life teacher who is going to be helping us with using 2nd life to take the in game footage that we need for out movies that we are going to be making.
So set up my account and made my character and flew around a bit and checked out some islands to see what the game is like and get a feel for it.
I do have images to post of my adventures but i left them on the computers at the university so i will post them at a later date .

Week 5
This week we worked on our scripts for a bit and then talk about how a character is made though the clothes that is wears to the way it talks.
We did a few writing exercises to help us develop our characters better then we watched the lord of the rings DVD on the making of Smeegal and how the character changed completly though the making of the film and how they went about making the changed that they made to get the final product.
